Job summary

PetSmart’s Retail Operations Lead role drives operational excellence in stores, overseeing merchandising, inventory, and pet care operations while upholding our vision, mission, and values. You will open/close the store, supervise associates, and maintain a safe, organized environment.

Responsibilities include leading during shifts, training staff, managing stock, POS operations, and ensuring an exceptional customer and pet-parent experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Full-time availability required, flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining a visually appealing store layout.

Responsibilities

• Support and guide sales associates in merchandise handling, training on product knowledge and presentation standards.
• Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development, including training, onboarding, mentoring, and coaching for growth.
• Delegate and validate completion of daily tasks.
• Lead and direct associates when acting as the Leader on Duty.
• Address and administer associate complaints and grievances.
• Recognize and celebrate associates driving engagement.
• Execute merchandise strategies to optimize sales, displays, and promotions.
• Manage inventory levels, conduct audits, and analyze trends for stock replenishment and markdowns.
• Operate POS systems and handle cash transactions accurately.
• Maintain store standards and ensure compliance with Policies, Procedures and Code of Ethics.
