Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You’ll assist with daily tasks, merchandise handling, and supervision of associates to ensure a safe and positive shopping environment.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with responsibilities spanning from opening/closing procedures to loss prevention and performance coaching.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and interpret directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drugstore environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day store activities and operations.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize merchandise and maintain seasonal areas on the sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain store front displays and promotional fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise and loss prevention tasks.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store areas and secure assets.
• Ensure policies and safety guidelines are followed.
• Help supervise and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Keep store clean including restrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
