Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support a clean, organized store focused on the customer. Responsibilities include supervising staff, merchandising, paperwork, deposits, stocking, and cashiering to protect assets and maximize profitability.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit control policies.
• Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes for receiving, stocking, and merchandising, including planograms.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Assist with planograms and merchandise presentation per store direction.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, deposits, refunds and overrides.
• Assist with store management in Store Manager’s absence.
