Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help keep a clean, customer-first store and to assist with supervising staff, merchandising, deposits and paperwork. This role requires leadership in the absence of the Store Manager and engagement with store operations.

Candidates should have strong communication, organization, and cash handling skills, with prior retail supervision preferred; physical tasks include stocking, cashiering, and occasional travel to other stores.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year retail experience and 6 months of supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.
• Ability to perform cash handling and operate POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership and operate cash register to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling and training of employees; conduct safety meetings.
• Manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking, and building displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and adhere to security and cash control procedures.
• Assist in store risk management and deposits; support store manager in absence.
