Job summary

Family Dollar in Romeoville, IL is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with merchandising, payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, strong communication skills, and a customer-focused approach in a fast-paced retail setting. Previous store management in retail or grocery is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks as needed
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Maintain promotional displays and store fixtures
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and records (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits)
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom
• Protect store assets including cash
• Ensure adherence to policies and safety guidelines
• Help Store Manager supervise and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment
• Other duties as assigned
