Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development at our Rockingham, NC location. You will assist with daily functions, help customers, organize merchandise, and participate in opening/closing procedures.

The role emphasizes maintaining store standards, assisting in payroll and scheduling, and supervising Store Associates to ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.

Qualifications

• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure all associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of the store, restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
