Job summary

Dollar General in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Store Manager to lead Non-Perishable Food and General Merchandise operations, optimize inventory levels, merchandising, pricing, and customer service to drive sales and profitability.

The role partners with the Store Manager to maintain a safe work environment, ensure compliance with food handling rules, develop staff, schedule coverage, and execute company standards across all store processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary business school training preferred.
• Minimum of three years of retail store experience.
• Experience as Department Head/Assistant Manager or similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of local/state food handling requirements.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and selects staff for management and lead roles.
• Trains department managers on stock levels, ordering, unloading, stocking and customer service.
• Trains employees on safe handling of food and use of lifting/cleaning equipment.
• Schedules staff coverage and monitors performance for corrective actions.
• Maintains vendor relations and ensures timely deliveries and accurate billing.
• Oversees pricing, signage, and planogram execution (POG).
• Reviews operating statements and identifies sales and profitability trends.
• Ensures adherence to security, cash handling, and inventory control procedures.
