Job summary

Family Dollar in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with daily activities, organize merchandise, and support opening/closing duties.

The role emphasizes strong communication, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and responsibilities include payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical store tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, payroll & scheduling records.
• Maintain well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all store assets including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and train/store associates accordingly.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of the store including bathrooms and floors.
• Other duties as assigned.
