Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store under direction of the Store Manager. You will supervise employees, manage merchandise presentation, maintain paperwork, and assist with deposits.

You will perform stocking, cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability and protect assets, with emphasis on deposits, refunds, and security procedures. This role requires strong communication and leadership at the store level.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Cash handling and cashier accountability knowledge expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate register to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees and training, and conduct safety meetings.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receive, stock, restock and rotate on shelves.
• Help maintain accurate inventory and control damages and markdowns.
• Assist with planograms and ensure displays align with standards.
• Support financial integrity by managing cash, deposits, refunds, and overrides.
• Assist in store management in the Store Manager's absence.
