Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. You will assist with supervision of employees, merchandise presentation, and deposits, while performing stocking, cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability and curb losses.

You will lead customer service, help schedule and train staff, manage inventory and planograms, and ensure cash control and security practices are followed.

Qualifications

• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist in planogram implementation and product presentation per Store Manager direction.
• Support financial integrity with cashier accountability, key control, and cash procedures; handle refunds and deposits.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
