Job summary

The Dollar General Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in executing store processes, supervising employees, handling inventory, stocking, and paperwork across the store. This role is a development step toward the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

Responsibilities include staffing, merchandising, inventory control, opening/closing, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, well-run store while maintaining customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and safety rules.
• Cash handling and deposit controls knowledge.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions for reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock presentation.
• Manage inventory processes, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and store support.
• Open and close store operations and ensure cash controls.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked store environment.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
