Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Jackson, MS to support the Store Manager in supervision, staffing, inventory, stocking, and administrative tasks. This role develops external candidates for future Store Manager positions and serves as a temporary leader.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, and loss prevention, while ensuring excellent customer service and store operations during the manager's absence.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, safety, and store security policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking, and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close store activities and ensure cash control.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
