Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Mississippi to assist the Store Manager with staffing, inventory, merchandising, and daily store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager track and will be for a limited period.

You will help with recruiting, stock handling, and customer service leadership while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Occasional travel to nearby stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Basic math calculations including percentages and totals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of safety, cash, and security policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and proper pricing and presentation.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow store policies and participate in opening/closing.
• Help ensure cash control, deposits, and overall financial integrity.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
