Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store operations, including planning, staffing, ordering, receiving, stocking, display, and sales. The role emphasizes leadership, training, and adherence to policies across the store team.

You will be responsible for ensuring proper staffing, daily opening/closing, customer service leadership, and adherence to safety and cash-control procedures while driving sales and efficiency in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to recruit, select and retain qualified employees under labor laws and company policies.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations and counsel when needed.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Experience operating a cash register and generating reports.
• Strong inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination processes.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees and ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, and address performance gaps.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; lead meetings to enforce policies.
• Open and close the store daily as required.
• Monitor sales, expenses and inventory to identify trends and control costs.
• Ensure stock replenishment and correct merchandising presentation.
• Maintain cashier integrity and security practices.
• Deliver superior customer service leadership and maintain a clean, safe store.
