Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a store leadership professional to manage personnel and day-to-day store operations. You will oversee staffing, training, performance evaluations, and adherence to policies while driving sales, inventory control, and customer service excellence.

The role requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of cash handling, and the ability to manage opening/closing duties and ensure a safe, well-presented store environment.

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Able to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposits.
• Able to use cash registers to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, store keys, etc.).
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Able to solve problems and handle diverse situations.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and company policies; ensures store is properly staffed.
• Provides training, conducts performance evaluations, and counsels staff as needed.
• Makes recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates expectations and conducts meetings to reinforce safety and policies.
• Ensures store opens/closes as scheduled and is properly staffed.
• Evaluates store performance and identifies trends, expenses, shrink, and errors.
• Reviews ordering plan and inventory management weekly to meet stock targets.
• Facilitates staging and stocking of merchandise following company processes.
• Maintains merchandise presentation, pricing, and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory via controls over damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Maintains cashier integrity and security with proper cash controls.
• Delivers superior customer service leadership.
• Keeps store clean, safe, and well-organized.
• Ensures tools and equipment are available to perform tasks.
• Follows SOPs and company communications; ensures compliance.
• Completes all required paperwork timely.
