Job summary

Insomnia Cookies is actively hiring for a full-time Store Manager in Training (MIT) at our Ann Arbor store located at 1229 South University Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. The role includes Manager-on-Duty duties when the Store Ops Manager is not present and leading onboarding for new hourly staff.

You will oversee ordering, inventory, scheduling, and ensure adherence to standards while delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail store.
• Experience conducting in-person interviews of hourly support staff.
• Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Proficient with MS Office and Word; familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Manager-on-Duty during scheduled shifts when the GM is absent.
• Supervise, train, and coach 2–5 team members on sales and deliveries.
• Lead new hourly staff onboarding and initial training.
• Conduct initial interviews for new hires in the manager’s absence.
• Assist Store Ops Manager with ordering, inventory control and scheduling.
• Hold staff accountable to Insomnia Cookies’ standards (baking, uniform, policies).
• Upsell and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform as Manager‑on‑Duty during scheduled shifts when Store Ops Manager (GM) is not present.
• Supervise, train and coach 2–5 team members engaged in both cookie sales and customer deliveries.
• Lead new hourly staff onboarding and initial training.
• Conduct initial interviews for potential new hires (Cookie Crew, Shift Leaders and Delivery Drivers) in the manager’s absence.
• Support Store Ops Manager with ordering, inventory control and scheduling.
• Hold staff accountable to Insomnia Cookies’ standards (baking, uniform, company policies, etc.).
• Upsell and provide overall customer service excellence – ensuring all team members are also upselling and providing the best customer service.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant or retail store.
• Prior experience conducting in‑person interviews of hourly support staff.
• Prior Point of Sale (POS) systems experience.
• Ability to utilize MS Office, Word and our Applicant Tracking System.
• Ability to work a 4–5 day work week and 1–2 mid‑to‑late shifts throughout the latter part of the week (Thursday‑Sunday).
• Must be 18 years of age or older and have legal eligibility for employment in the United States.
