Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily store operations, staffing, inventory control, stocking, and paperwork. This role aims to develop an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The role includes assisting in recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service leadership, with emphasis on loss prevention and cash controls. Some travel and flexible hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail or store experience is beneficial for external candidates.
• Proficiency in cash handling and deposits.
• Experience using POS systems and cash registers.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with safety and store procedures.
• Ability to recruit, interview and train staff.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising and pricing per store direction.
• Help manage inventory, damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and store operations support.
• Ensure store security, cash control and bank deposits.
• Participate in opening/closing duties and paperwork completion.
