Job summary

Dollar General in Warrenville, SC is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in retail operations, staffing, inventory, and customer service. This role develops externally for the Store Manager track and is limited in duration.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory, cash control, and daily store opening/closing tasks while adhering to company policies and procedures, providing leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• At least 1 year of retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Strong math skills for calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding of safety, deposits, keys and related store controls.
• Ability to recruit, hire, and train staff while complying with laws and internal processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Facilitate merchandising, staging, stocking, pricing, and signage according to store direction.
• Assist with inventory management, including scans, paperwork, and facilities controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Model company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure secure deposit of company funds.
• Maintain cash control and store security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends, expenses, shrink, and inventory turns.
• Complete paperwork and documentation timely.
