Job summary

Dollar General in Chapin, SC seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in all store processes, including staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service leadership. This role develops external candidates for future Store Manager positions and is temporary.

Key responsibilities include assisting in recruiting, maintaining store standards, controlling expenses, and ensuring cash handling and safety procedures are followed, while working in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire, and train qualified applicants.
• Knowledge of cash handling, inventory, and store security procedures.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred in some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to established practices and direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and reporting.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
