Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staffing, inventory, and customer service leadership. The role involves participating in opening/closing duties, maintaining cash controls, and ensuring compliance with company policies.

The candidate will assist with merchandising, inventory accuracy, and reporting, with a focus on developing internal candidates for the Store Manager role.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating procedures.
• Mathematical calculations including percentages and basic algebra.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with cash, safety policies and key control procedures.
• Understanding of recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes, including compliance.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
• May prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking to meet in-store targets.
• Assist in inventory management and writing, documenting, and processing paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and act as a role model for policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of funds and proper cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe work environment.
• Assist in operating the store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends, labor, profitability and shrink.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
