Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Oregon to assist the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and daily store operations. The role focuses on developing internal candidates for store leadership and will be for a limited period.

You will support cashier accuracy, store security, and adherence to company policies while participating in opening/closing procedures and maintaining a safe, well-stocked environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, store keys, SAFE/STARS).
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination processes including legal compliance.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by stocking and presenting merchandise as directed.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management, including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in designated bank.
• Support financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expenses, shrink and errors.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation per guidelines and deadlines.
