Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in the United States to support the Store Manager with staffing, inventory management, stocking, and store needs. This role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager path and is held for a limited period.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating stocking and storage of merchandise according to established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork and facility controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
