Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in the effective implementation of all store processes, supervise staff, manage inventory, stocking, paperwork, and store needs for a limited period.

This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager role, emphasizing merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and leadership across store operations, while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or strongly preferred.
• Experience in retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Strong basic math and financial controls knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating stocking and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management and related paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds and proper cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
