Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, merchandising, inventory, and daily store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager track and ensuring store processes run smoothly.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year in retail. Strong leadership, cash handling, and safety compliance are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math, percentages and calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and interact with diverse situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Oversee inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and control processes.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in manuals and communications.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cash handling and deposit controls for financial integrity.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
