The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) program is designed to prepare you for a future Store Manager position. This 16-week, self-paced program combines virtual and hands-on learning experiences to develop your leadership skills. Support for your growth includes guidance from your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

Key skills for this role include:

  1. Effective verbal and written communication to lead your team.
  2. Customer service excellence.
  3. Merchandising strategies to support sales growth.
  4. Store inventory and asset management to maintain profitability.

As an SMIT, you are expected to:

  1. Engage actively with your leader during the program to support your promotion path.
  2. Support your store as a management team member, aligning with CVS values and policies.
  3. Engage colleagues in supporting the company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
  4. Be willing to accept promotion roles within your market.

Note: Selection as an SMIT does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager. Promotion depends on performance and available openings.

Minimum requirements include:

  1. Willingness to accept a Store Manager role at any location within the market.
  2. Ability to transfer within CVS stores in the market.
  3. Flexibility to work varying schedules.
  4. High School diploma or GED (a college degree is preferred).
  5. Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
