Store Manager In Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position.

Program Overview

The SMIT program enhances your career as a future store leader. It blends self-paced, collaborative training with virtual and hands‑on learning experiences over 16 weeks. Your development team includes a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and a Store Manager coach.

Key Skills and Responsibilities

• Communicate well verbally and in writing to support and lead your team.
• Perform customer‑care duties to provide high levels of service.
• Execute merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
• Manage the store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.
• Actively engage with your leader in Key Learning Experiences to support progress toward promotion.
• Support your store as a management‑team member and lead in a manner consistent with CVS values and policies.
• Engage colleagues in support of the company’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
• Be willing to accept promotion roles within the market you work in.

Qualifications

• Willingness to accept a promotion to Store Manager at any location within the designated market.
• Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy stores within the designated market.
• Ability to work a schedule that may vary based on business needs.
• High School diploma or GED (required).
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
• Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
• A four‑year college degree is preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range
$18.50 - $23.88 per hour (base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary). The actual offer will depend on experience, education, geography and other factors.
