Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager with daily operations, staff supervision, inventory control, stocking, receiving, and paperwork. This role is designed to develop externally for a future Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

The candidate will help in recruiting, merchandising, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, well-organized store environment while supporting store goals and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in retail helpful and preferred.
• Cash handling and deposit procedures knowledge.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Support store merchandising and signage according to guidelines.
• Assist inventory management, damages, markdowns, and reporting.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and store supervision.
• Open and close store operations in manager's absence.
• Maintain cash controls and security procedures.
• Review operating statements and identify trends.
• Complete paperwork and adhere to deadlines.
