Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store operations. This temporary role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and ensuring financial integrity through cash handling and policies. Travel to various store locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire, and train staff with legal compliance.
• Strong cash handling, inventory, and loss prevention knowledge.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising by staging, stocking, and pricing merchandise as directed by Store Manager.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds.
• Assist in maintaining cash controls and cashier accountability.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and a safe environment.
• Operate the store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
