Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and completing store paperwork. This role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager position and runs for a limited period.

The position requires adherence to company policies, strong customer service leadership, and the ability to operate during opening and closing hours while maintaining stock integrity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and store controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safe environment; support store opening/closing.
• Ensure cashier accountability and adherence to security procedures.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
