Job summary

Dollar General’s Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in operating processes, supervising staff, and managing inventory and store needs. This role is intended to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Key duties include assisting with recruiting, merchandising, inventory accuracy, cash controls, and daily paperwork, while ensuring a safe, well-stocked store and strong customer service leadership.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents and procedures.
• Math skills including percentages and basic calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and store controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
