Job summary

Dollar General in Vermont seeks a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervising employees, stocking, inventory and store needs while developing an external candidate for the Store Manager role.

This temporary role emphasizes training, adherence to policies, and safe, customer-focused operations. You'll participate in opening and closing, manage cash controls, and help maintain a well-organized, welcoming store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposits and controls.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train staff to meet store needs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating stocking and pricing per established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and stock control.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposits and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
