Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in daily operations, supervision, staffing, inventory, stocking, and paperwork. The role emphasizes developing an external candidate for the Store Manager role for a limited period.

Duties include recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, in-stock targets, cashier accountability, opening/closing, and ensuring a safe, well‑stocked store while providing strong customer service leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Two+ years of leadership or managerial experience.
• Two+ years of experience in a retail grocery store preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise per store manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, paperwork and facility controls; conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in the designated bank.
• Maintain cashier accountability and adhere to cash control procedures.
• Help maintain a clean, well-stocked store and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
