Job description

Store Manager Job Description

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of their store, ensuring smooth and effective functioning. This includes managing scheduling, customer service, marketing, merchandising, inventory, financial reporting, and safety. The manager will also develop, motivate, and manage store employees, as well as create business strategies to meet goals and increase sales in a competitive marketplace. The role involves growing the company's market share by serving large, commercial clients such as paint contractors, along with retail customers.

This position's typical schedule is 48 hours per week, which may include evenings and/or weekends.

This role is eligible for performance-based bonuses and benefits including health coverage (medical, dental, vision), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), disability, security, retirement plans, and a comprehensive paid time off package including personal leave, parental leave, medical leave, vacation, and holidays.

Due to the nature of customer contact, which may involve minors, and access to cash, electronic equipment, personal information, and valuable store items, a criminal history review is conducted to ensure safety and protect the company's reputation and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.
  2. Train, motivate, mentor, and evaluate store employees to meet sales goals.
  3. Ensure high customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  4. Maintain comprehensive product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
  5. Build and sustain relationships with wholesale and retail clients.
  6. Manage store administration and ensure compliance with policies, including safety and security.
  7. Maintain store appearance and visual merchandising standards, including promotional displays.
  8. Provide accurate and timely reports as required.
  9. Oversee employee training, development, and performance management.
  10. Address and resolve customer and employee complaints.
  11. Collaborate with Sales Reps on outside sales efforts to expand market share.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Legal authorization to work in the country without sponsorship.
  • Valid, unrestricted Driver's License.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and 70 lbs. occasionally, with or without accommodations.
  • At least one year of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • At least one year of experience in retail, sales, or customer service.
  • If internal, a performance rating of 'meets expectations' or higher and completion of required HR eLearning courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selling paint and related products.
  • Experience with timekeeping and CRM systems.
  • Associate degree or higher in business, sales, or marketing.
  • Experience as an Assistant Store or Branch Operations Manager at Sherwin-Williams.
  • Willingness to relocate for future opportunities.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages, including Spanish.
