Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in daily store operations, including staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service leadership. This role supports development for future Store Manager positions and is limited in duration.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, maintaining store standards, and ensuring financial integrity through cash controls and secure deposits. Occasional travel and a fast-paced environment are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Experience in retail environment is preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposit controls.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of safety and cash control policies (deposits, keys, safety programs).

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock presentation.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model with company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing.
• Ensure safe deposits of company funds.
• Maintain cash accountability and security procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
