Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store operations, including staffing, training, and daily processes. You will drive sales, ensure compliance with policies, and maintain a safe, well-organized store. This role emphasizes staffing, training, cash handling, and customer service leadership across shifts.

You will oversee inventory, merchandising, and performance evaluations while ensuring strong customer service and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal abilities with staff and customers.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring and coaching within compliance frameworks.
• Understanding of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, keys, SAFE program).
• Excellent organization and eye for detail.
• Ability to solve problems in varied situations.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and policies.
• Provide training, evaluate performance and address gaps or terminations as needed.
• Recommend pay and advancement for employees.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; lead meetings and ensure safety.
• Open/close store as required and maintain staffing.
• Analyze operating statements for trends, profitability and shrink.
• Manage inventory targets and stock replenishment weekly.
• Ensure merchandise is presented with proper pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory, reduce damages and ensure cash control.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and a clean, safe store environment.
