Job summary

Meijer is offering the Store Leadership Internship, an 11-week program designed to deliver hands-on retail leadership experience and real business impact. Interns work with senior leaders, tackle challenging projects, and deliver final presentations.

The program includes executive speaker series, professional development, networking events, and a pathway toward future store leadership roles. During the internship, participants rotate into an Intern Team Leader role, directing day-to-day store

Qualifications

• The Meijer Store Leadership Internship is an experiential program designed for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, who are considering future careers in this exciting field
• Ability to work flexible shifts to gain exposure to the full operation of the store
• Prior experience in retail is preferred, but not required
• Past leadership responsibilities in work or extracurricular activities strongly preferred
• Passion for retail and a desire to enter a career in store leadership
• Drive for results - has focus on the bottom line
• Customer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers
• Relationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies
• Action Oriented: can mange multiple tasks
• Decision Quality: ability to analyze financial information and/or other data to make informed decisions
• Effective Communication – can adjust communicate style to ensure clear direction and understanding

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members
• Support department in achieving sales, maintaining shrink, and managing the P&L
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
• Mentor and coach team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the area is maintained to Meijer standards
• Mentor and coach new team members to the department and help ensure they are onboarded and completing required training
• Spend majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is being delivered
• Promote a safe work environment
• Reliable and consistent attendance required
• Performs other duties as assigned
