Job summary

Meijer is seeking a store leader to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations across departments. You will mentor staff, ensure prime shopping conditions, and maintain company standards while driving customer service and store sales.

Responsibilities include staffing, career development, disciplinary actions, and meeting financial targets. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and strong communication with team members to deliver Meijer’s friendly service initiative.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• 1 year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and customer service experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions; teach suggestive selling.

Responsibilities

• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and career development; involvement in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and manage discharges; responsible for P&L, sales, and shrink control.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Ensure team is fully trained and completes required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store engaging with customers and team members to deliver outstanding service.
