Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and day-to-day store operations. This role provides external candidates with development toward a Store Manager position and is a limited-duration assignment.

You’ll assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, and store processes while demonstrating company policy adherence and strong customer service leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and inventory management.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and to perform basic math calculations.
• Knowledge of store merchandising, pricing, and signage best practices.
• Familiarity with safety, security procedures, and loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to established practices and manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and perform inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and act as a role model for policy adherence.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and proper cashier accountability.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities, including sales, labor, and inventory turn.
