Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store operations. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruitment, merchandising, inventory control, and cash handling while leading by example and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Travel to other stores may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with store operations and merchandising practices.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train qualified applicants to fulfill store needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Help with merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise per store direction.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and cashier reports.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide strong customer service leadership to staff and customers.
• Model company procedures and policies as outlined in manuals and communications.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds at the bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity with cash controls and security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to spot trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
