Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Leader to manage employees and store processes, from staffing and training to performance and safety. You will oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and customer service while ensuring daily opening/closing routines and policy compliance.

Experience in retail management is preferred. The role emphasizes leadership, inventory control, and adherence to labor laws with a focus on safe, efficient store operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions and procedures manuals.
• Strong mathematical ability for calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling, cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and procedures (deposits, store keys, SAFE program).
• In some locations bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and policies; ensure proper staffing.
• Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify gaps and counsel as needed, up to termination.
• Make recommendations on pay rates and advancement.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Open and close the store as required, ensuring proper staffing.
