Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager to oversee planning and implementation of all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. This role emphasizes leadership in training, evaluations, and policy enforcement across store operations.

Responsibilities include staffing, safety, performance management, inventory control, and ensuring accurate merchandising and cash handling while maintaining a clean, secure, and customer-focused

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Ability to perform cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Familiarity with cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and Company policies; ensure staffing.
• Provides proper training, conducts performance evaluations, and counsels when needed.
• Makes recommendations regarding pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance and safety expectations; conducts meetings to reinforce policy.
• Ensures store is staffed and opened/closed as required.
• Evaluates operating statements for sales, profitability, and turnover trends.
• Manages ordering to meet in-stock targets; conducts weekly inventory reviews.
• Facilitates staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Maintains proper merchandise presentation, pricing, and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory by controlling damages and shrink, and handling paperwork.
