Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. You will recruit and retain staff, train employees, and evaluate performance in a fast-paced retail environment.

The role requires ensuring compliance with laws and company policies, managing daily operations, driving sales and profitability, and maintaining a safe, well-organized store.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for team leadership.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices (legal compliance).
• Familiarity with cash, facility, and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and company policies; ensures staffing.
• Provides training, conducts evaluations, and addresses performance gaps or counseling.
• Makes recommendations on employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinates meetings and safety programs.
• Ensures proper staffing and opening/closing; manages early/late shifts.
• Evaluates store performance including sales, profitability, and shrink.
• Manages ordering to meet in-stock targets and reviews planning weekly.
• Facilitates staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Maintains presentation, pricing, and signage of merchandise.
• Maintains inventory levels and controls damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Ensures cash control and security compliance to protect assets.
• Delivers superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
• Ensures equipment and tools required for tasks are available.
• Follows SOPs, handbook, and company communications; ensures compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation on time.
