Job summary

Family Dollar in University Park, Illinois is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily operations, serve customers, and develop the store team. This role involves hands-on supervision, merchandising, and ensuring compliance with company policies.

You will manage openings/closings, assist with ordering, payroll and scheduling tasks, protect assets, and foster a positive, safe work environment while delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives and maintain communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays; assist in ordering merchandise.
• Record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts) and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and supervise/train store associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness and restock as needed; perform other duties as assigned.
