Job summary

Family Dollar in Springfield, IL is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, serve customers, and develop our team. You will assist with merchandising, staffing, and implementing corporate directives while maintaining store standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Experience in store management within retail, grocery, or drugstore environment preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash transactions), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall neatness.
• Other duties as assigned.
