Job summary

Dollar General in Amity, Oregon seeks a Store Manager to oversee all store operations, staff, and daily execution of processes from ordering to customer service. You will recruit, train, evaluate, and develop team members while ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state laws.

You will manage inventory, merchandising, cash handling, safety, and financial controls, open/close procedures, and maintain a clean, welcoming store that delivers value to customers every day.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Spanish language skills may be preferred at certain store locations.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; address gaps and counseling up to termination.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events to reinforce policies.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed each day.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends, profitability and inventory issues; manage shrink and errors.
• Order to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review orders weekly and manage BSR/cycle counts.
• Facilitate staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise following company processes.
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to standards; manage pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages and paperwork.
• Ensure financial integrity through cash control and security practices.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.
• Ensure store is equipped with necessary tools and resources; ensure compliance with SOPs and handbooks.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation by deadlines.
