Job summary

Dollar General in Tennessee seeks an experienced Store Manager to lead daily store operations, including staffing, training, ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising and customer service.

You will evaluate performance, enforce safety and labor laws, manage inventory and cash controls, and partner with regional teams to achieve sales goals. This role requires hands-on leadership, open/closing shifts, and ensuring compliance with company policies. Retail management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to recruit, hire and train staff in compliance with laws.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, diagrams, and operating instructions.
• Strong cash handling and deposit control knowledge.
• Experience using IBM cash register to generate reports.
• Strong inventory management and merchandising knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution ability.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Familiarity with store safety and cash controls policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions or counseling, up to termination.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events to enforce policies.
• Open the store and close the store as scheduled, at least two times per week.
