Job summary

Safeway in Clarkston, WA is seeking a capable Person In Charge to uphold exceptional customer service and oversee front-end operations when store management is unavailable. You will supervise cashiers and ensure policy adherence while maintaining a profitable, efficient store.

In this role you’ll handle emergencies, complaints, and staff supervision, ensuring a safe, clean shopping environment and smooth daily operations. Strong communication and independent decision-making are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.
• Desired: Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within policy.
• Handle emergencies, complaints, accidents, and supervise all store personnel.
• Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Supervise the sales floor for service and product replenishment.
• Replace stock in displays near the checkout area.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Assist other cashiers with register problems.
• Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
• Operate cash register and process payments, giving correct change.
• Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out.
• May perform close of day tasks and count tills when needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
