Job summary

Safeway in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Grocery Fourth/Person In Charge (PIC) to lead the front-end operations when management is unavailable. You will ensure friendly, courteous service and oversee store activities to protect profit, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

In this role, you supervise staff at night, perform cashier duties, handle emergencies, and maintain policy adherence across departments. A strong candidate meets the qualifications and can work independently.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills required.
• Able to interact with customers and co-workers.
• Able to follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all positions within the store.
• Ability to work independently.
• Desired: Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service as defined by the employer within store policy.
• Oversee store operations in absence of store management to maximize profit and service.
• Supervise store employees when in charge, including cashier functions.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
• Replenish stock and assist cashiers with register issues as needed.
• Perform basic office tasks to support customers and staff.
