Job summary

Shoe Carnival in Chicago Ridge, IL is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, act as a key holder, and drive a customer-first environment. This full-time role offers hands-on leadership and a pathway to future retail management.

You’ll lead associates, support the General Manager in achieving sales goals, handle cash operations, participate in visual merchandising, and ensure loss prevention procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of retail or customer service experience.
• Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
• Must complete Key Carrier Certification within 60 days.
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Age 18+ due to keyholder responsibilities.
• Able to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the store as a key holder.
• Support the General Manager in reaching sales goals.
• Lead customer service efforts and resolve issues professionally.
• Train and guide associates on processes and standards.
• Delegate daily tasks and coordinate breaks.
• Assist with visual merchandising and store presentation.
• Perform register overrides, safe/till counts, and cash reconciliation.
• Follow and promote loss prevention procedures.
