Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to uphold a customer-first store environment in Waterford Township, MI. This role supports the Store Manager with staffing, merchandising, deposits, and daily operations to maximize profitability while safeguarding company assets.

You will supervise staff, ensure planograms and inventory accuracy, handle cashier duties, and drive compliance with policies in a fast-paced retail setting. A high school diploma and retail experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required.
• Ability to read and interpret store procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers and operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees and training; conduct safety meetings and ensure policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Assist with inventory accuracy and controls, including damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Assist with planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Assist in cashier accountability, cash handling, and deposits; authorize refunds under supervision.
• Assist in store management in the Store Manager's absence.
